The Blue Ridge Mountain range runs through the western half of Virginia and North Carolina. The mountains are beautiful, and if you take the Blue Ridge Parkway Scenic Drive, your eyes will be dazzled by the vistas and valleys common in Appalachia.

If you don’t just want to sit in the car for the entire stretch, you can hop out at the numerous pull-offs and hikes strewn along the path. Make your trip yours! Take a look at some of the best hiking options you’ll find on the road.

While you certainly don’t have to drive the whole way, a day on the Blue Ridge road is one well spent.
