Recipe: Sausage/Onion Casserole Bread

This colorful and delicious breakfast bread is actually the main event.  Just pair with a simple egg dish and fresh fruit.

Sausage-Onion Casserole Bread

1 pound mild bulk pork sausage

1 large onion, chopped

2 cups biscuit mix

¾ cup milk

2 eggs

1 ½ cup sour cream

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon paprika

Cook sausage and onion until sausage is browned and onion is tender; drain well.  Combine biscuit mix, milk and 1 egg; mix well.  Spread mixture in a greased 13 X 9 inch baking dish, top with sausage mixture.  Lightly press sausage mixture into base.  Combine sour cream, salt and 1 egg; blend well.  Spread over sausage mixture and sprinkle with paprika.  Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.  Cut into squares.  Yield: 12 servings.
